Sociology In

Sociology In…fulfils a dream I have had to enhance our appreciation for different streams of national sociologies to build more resilient relationships across the world.  We talk about decolonizing our discipline and we write about addressing global North vs South knowledge hierarchies, but we must go far beyond including a few under-represented voices in our work.  How much do we really know about our specific histories, successes, and current challenges?  Looking beyond dominant voices and emphases, what is important to different sociological groups and associations today?  Where do we start if we are just curious about sociology in another part of the world?  If our beginning students or the public are curious about sociologies in different countries, where should we direct them?

I proposed the idea of podcasts to National Association representatives and many have joined enthusiastically, deciding the format of conversation that bests suits them.

These easy listening pieces provide the introduction to sociologies in the voices of people who are immersed in their streams of the discipline.

Collectively, these podcasts from National Association members contribute towards the legacy of building resilient sociologies.
