ISA Regional Volumes 1996-1998
Social Knowledge: Heritage, Challenges, Perspectives
General Editor: Maria Luz Morán, University Complutense, Spain
While President of the ISA, Immanuel Wallerstein collaborated with national and other associations to organize ten regional conferences in preparation for the 14th World Congress of Sociology (1998). These volumes were intended to represent the state of social knowledge in each of the ten regions. They form part of a bold and ambitious scheme to map out the state of world sociology from a regional perspective.
The volumes are made available here on our website. Many years after their first publication they still provide an excellent foundation for further development and for the appreciation of the challenges facing different areas of the world. We hope they will inspire others to carry forward this project.
