Why are you working on this topic? Could you share an experience, a fact or a person who made you get engage on that research?
S. Fadaee: As a researcher of social movements, I am particularly interested in the strategies that enable these movements to achieve success in their struggles. The farmers’ movement in India stands out as one of the most remarkable social movements in recent years, both for its effective mobilization strategies and its victories. This struggle is therefore of significant importance to scholars of social movements and activists alike.
Do you have any video, recorded conference, or online material that you would like us to share with others?
S. Fadaee: My recently published book, Global Marxism: Decolonisation and Revolutionary Politics (Manchester University Press, 2024), explores how Marx’s ideas have been adopted and adapted by revolutionaries in the Global South to secure hard-fought victories in their struggles.
