ISA Forum of Sociology
FAQ
General Questions
We look forward to welcoming you onsite in Morocco! There will be no options available for presenting or attending online. Please plan accordingly.
On December 5, 2024, all authors who have submitted an abstract via the CONFEX platform received a notification letter with the final decision. Review your mailing and bin folders.
The ISA does not require you to send a full paper as a requirement for presenting at the Forum. However, some RC/WG/TG session organizers do require full papers to be submitted in advance. Please contact the session organizer directly to learn about their specific requirements.
In the ISA Forum, being a session organizer is different from being a session chair. The session organizer manages the overall content and session framing, while the session chair is physically present to moderate the session. This can be the same person or different people. However, it is not possible to present a paper and chair the same session where that paper is presented.
We are confident in our ability to ensure the safety and security of LGBTQIA+ Forum attendees while at the conference. Please review the ISA Statement regarding concerns from LGBTQIA+ members about the 5th ISA Forum of Sociology here

Planning your Trip
The Rabat–Salé Airport (RBA) is the closest airport to the city, at 9 km from the center. You may also consider the Casablanca Mohammed V International Airport (CMN), located 99 km from Rabat and offering numerous flight options, and the Tangier Ibn Battouta Airport (TNG), which is some 240 km from Rabat and is accessible by high-speed train in 1h20. Find more information in the Planning your Trip section here.
From Rabat–Salé Airport, it takes 15–20 minutes by taxi. From Casablanca, it takes about one hour by train or intercity taxi, and from Tangier, it takes about 1h30 by the “Al-Boraq” Moroccan high-speed train. Find more information in the Planning your Trip section here.
The ISA has decided not to offer a hotel reservation system for the 5th ISA Forum of Sociology in Rabat. The decision reflects the significant changes in the hospitality market and the growing ease of accessing various accommodation platforms worldwide. Attendees are invited to explore and book accommodation independently through widely available platforms to secure the best rates and options in advance. However, some recommendations will soon be available on the forum's web page. Visit the Planning your Trip section here regularly.
Salé is easily accessible by taxi (10 minutes) or train (20 minutes). At 28 km from Rabat, Skhirat can be reached by taxi (20 minutes) or train (25 minutes). At 49 km from Rabat, Kénitra can be reached by train (35 minutes) or taxi (40 minutes). At 87 km from Rabat, Casablanca is accessible by train (50 minutes) or taxi (1 hour). Morocco’s national railway, the Office National des Chemins de Fer (ONCF), offers reliable train services, including the “Al-Boraq” high-speed train.
